#80: Eddy Thrower – Demystifying the Enigma of Natural Talent

What’s up Drumtrepreneurs! Welcome back to another episode of the Drummers I Like Podcast! This week we are chatting with the enigma that is Eddy Thrower and Kevin and I cannot be any more excited. Eddy has been throwing it down hard on Instagram making quite the social media wave while he tours the world in his super band Lower Than Atlantis… To top that off he is also a successful clinician and studio drummer displaying credits from artists such as One Direction, 5 seconds of summer, and the infamous Linkin Park. His playing speaks to my love for breakbeats and his pocket is deeper then Richard Branson could even begin to imagine.

About our guest:

Eddy thrower is the drummer of top UK rock band Lower Than Atlantis. Prior to this and even still, he is also one of the UK’s busiest session players, working with such artists as, One Direction, 5 seconds of summer, and Linkin Park, as well as playing on records for movies, and TV adverts. Eddy has also toured and performed with artists such as Blink 182, Linkin Park, You Me At Six and A Day to Remember.

Key Points from today’s episode:

  • The little floor tom that could: in his early teens Eddy’s Father brought home a random floor tom that would spark his inevitable interest in playing drums.
  • Give me fuel, give me fire: As he journeyed through his early years behind the drum kit Eddy found great influence in Metallica and Lars Ulrich developin interesting feel for speed metal, heavy rock, and dirty chops.
  • Out hustle everyone: Eddy breaks down his addiction to friendly competition and how he has used it to drive him towards being a top recorded artist in the UK, the drummer for a top 5 Rock band, and highly sought out by an evergreen community of up and coming drummers.

If you couldn’t already tell we had some serious chemistry with Eddy and seriously CAN NOT WAIT to see our homeboy at NAMM this January. A big shout out to our homeboy Eddy for joining us this week!
